Massive Road Projects in Kaduna Seen as Key to Uba Sani’s Re-election

Scale and Progress of Road Infrastructure
According to KADRA, more than 140 road projects covering approximately 1,335 kilometres are currently underway across the state, with about 60% already completed.
The projects span both urban and rural areas, targeting improved connectivity, reduced travel time, and enhanced access to economic centres. The agency emphasised that the scale of infrastructure development is unprecedented in the state’s recent history.
Key projects include major road corridors designed to connect previously underserved communities, many of which had limited or no access to motorable roads for decades.
Impact on Communities and Economic Activity
The road projects are expected to improve mobility and stimulate economic activity by linking agricultural communities to markets and urban centres.
One highlighted project is the Gadar Gayan–Gwaraji–Maraban Kujama road, which includes a bridge across River Kaduna and connects dozens of farming communities. The development is expected to enhance agricultural logistics and regional trade flows.
Officials note that improved road infrastructure is already easing transportation challenges and strengthening commercial linkages across the state.
Political Implications Ahead of 2027
Baba-Ahmed linked the infrastructure drive to political outcomes, stating that visible and functional projects are likely to influence voter sentiment. He emphasised that tangible development, particularly in road construction, plays a critical role in shaping electoral decisions.
Feedback from residents, according to the agency, has been largely positive, with growing public approval of the administration’s infrastructure agenda.
Stakeholders within the state have also expressed confidence that sustained project delivery could translate into electoral support for continuity in governance.
Outlook
Kaduna State’s extensive road development programme underscores the role of infrastructure investment in both economic development and political positioning.
As project execution progresses, the durability, coverage, and long-term economic impact of these roads will determine their effectiveness in supporting growth and influencing political outcomes ahead of the 2027 elections.
