The long-delayed Apo-Karshi Road in the Federal Capital Territory is expected to be completed and inaugurated in December 2026, according to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Wike gave the assurance on Saturday, August 22, 2026, after inspecting the Apo-Karshi Road project and the 14-kilometre Bwari-Kubwa Road.
According to the minister, the Apo-Karshi project was originally awarded in 2011 under a previous administration but suffered prolonged delays. The FCT Administration subsequently terminated the original contract and awarded the project to SCC Nigeria Ltd.
Wike said the decision to revive the project followed its importance to residents and motorists who depend on the route for movement between Abuja and surrounding satellite communities.
Road to Improve Connectivity With Satellite Communities
The Apo-Karshi corridor serves communities outside Abuja's traditional city centre and provides an important connection between residential areas and employment and commercial centres.
