Lagos State Created 5,000+ Jobs Through Housing Projects in 2024

Lagos State's housing developments in 2024 have played a significant role in generating employment and supporting local communities. According to the state's housing authorities, over 5,000 job opportunities were created through these initiatives, providing work for people across different skill levels, including skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled labor.

Since the beginning of this administration, nearly 14,000 individuals have found jobs in the housing sector, highlighting its contribution not only to infrastructure growth but also to economic empowerment. To further enhance the quality of labor on construction sites, the state government introduced a specialized training initiative known as the Master Craftsman Training Programme. This program upskilled more than 500 artisans, equipping them with modern tools, safety gear, and industry-recognized certifications to boost site productivity and ensure worker safety.

Beyond job creation, the housing sector has also improved the lives of thousands of residents. By the end of 2024, it was estimated that nearly 29,000 households had benefited from various housing schemes, showcasing the state's dedication to reducing the housing deficit and expanding access to affordable living.

In efforts to regulate the real estate space and protect consumers, the housing ministry also addressed numerous complaints from the public. Out of nearly 1,900 cases, over 1,200 were resolved through mediation, leading to the recovery of funds and properties. Some cases are still ongoing through legal channels. These efforts reflect the state's growing reliance on alternative dispute resolution as a transparent and efficient means of addressing housing-related issues.

Lagos State continues to demonstrate that investment in housing can be a powerful driver of economic growth, workforce development, and social welfare.
