FCTA Provides Contact Numbers to Report Waste Collection Failures in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has released dedicated phone numbers for residents to report cases of uncleared refuse across Abuja, as part of efforts to improve sanitation, environmental health, and service delivery within the capital city.

The initiative allows residents to directly alert waste management authorities when refuse collection is delayed or missed in residential areas, markets, commercial districts, and public spaces.

Official Phone Numbers for Reporting Uncleared Refuse

Residents can report uncleared refuse by calling or sending messages, including photos or videos where possible, to the following numbers:

  • 08038643087

  • 07011073406

  • 07011255710

  • 09114843425

The FCTA advises residents to include clear location details, nearby landmarks, and the nature of the refuse issue to enable swift response by sanitation teams.

Improving Waste Management Across Abuja

According to the FCTA, the reporting lines are managed by officials within the Department of Waste Management Services and are designed to close gaps in refuse collection across the city. Abuja’s rapid population growth and expanding housing developments have increased pressure on waste management systems, making resident feedback increasingly important.

Uncleared refuse poses risks to public health, contributes to blocked drainage systems, and negatively affects the overall quality of neighbourhoods. The FCTA says the new reporting channels will help sanitation teams respond faster and prioritise affected areas.

Implications for Housing and Neighbourhoods

Clean environments play a critical role in sustaining property values, rental demand, and neighbourhood appeal. Real estate professionals note that persistent refuse issues can discourage prospective tenants and buyers, while timely waste clearance supports healthier and more liveable communities.

Landlords, estate managers, and residents’ associations are encouraged to actively use the reporting lines when service lapses occur, rather than allowing refuse to accumulate.

Call for Responsible Use

The FCTA has urged residents to use the phone numbers responsibly and avoid misuse of the lines. Officials stressed that the reporting system is intended to complement existing waste collection schedules, not replace them.

As Abuja continues to grow, the Administration says community participation will remain central to maintaining cleanliness, environmental standards, and quality of life across the Federal Capital Territory.
