Nigeria expands access to formal credit
Nigeria’s drive towards a more credit-based economy has gained momentum, with the National Credit Guarantee Company (NCGC) enabling participating financial institutions to extend ₦46.95 billion in loans to 67,512 borrowers across 25 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The figure represents lending backed by ₦21.59 billion in guarantees issued by the NCGC during its first year of operations, according to President Bola Tinubu.
