Lagos Partners with Private Sector To Deliver Roads, Housing, and Health Projects
Lagos State is moving fast on infrastructure development by involving private companies. On June 17, 2025, the government held a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) roundtable at the Lagos Marriott Hotel in Ikeja. The event, organised by the Lagos State PPP Office, brought together government officials, business leaders, development bodies, and finance experts. Their shared goal: to work better together to build essential infrastructure.
Deputy Chief of Staff Sam Egube—speaking for Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu—explained that PPPs enable the state to tap private money, expertise, and efficiency. He said these partnerships help deliver high-quality infrastructure and services. He also pointed out that the governor’s THEMES+ agenda has already seen successful PPP projects.
Bukola Odoe, the Special Adviser on PPPs, stressed that Lagos cannot rely on public money alone. She said future growth requires cooperation—government and market working together—with strong values like trust and openness.
During the roundtable, experts discussed real-world solutions in areas like healthcare, housing, and roads. They noted the challenges and explored ways PPPs can help solve them. By the end, all participants agreed on the need for continued collaboration. Lagos plans to make this roundtable a regular forum to check progress, coordinate efforts, and attract private investments. The message was clear: by working together, government and private partners can build a stronger Lagos.
