Federal Housing Authority to Begin Construction of 200 Housing Units in Ekiti, Commends Governor Oyebanji’s Support

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has announced plans to commence construction of a 200-unit residential housing project in Ekiti State, signalling renewed federal commitment to addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit through state-level collaboration.

The project, consisting of two-bedroom bungalows, is expected to begin in November or December 2025, after the rainy season. According to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the FHA, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, the first phase will deliver 100 units, with subsequent phases expanding the development to full capacity.

FHA–Ekiti Partnership Strengthens Federal–State Collaboration

Speaking during a briefing in Ado Ekiti, Ojo credited Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration for facilitating the project through the allocation of 20 hectares of land along the Ekiti State University Road and the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy at no cost.

He described the gesture as a demonstration of the state’s commitment to housing development and inclusive governance.

“The governor’s proactive approach has ensured all documentation is completed. We are now ready to begin construction once the weather conditions are favourable,” Ojo stated.

Ojo, a former member of the House of Representatives, commended the governor for building productive relationships with the Federal Government and attracting infrastructural investment to the state. He noted that the synergy between Ekiti and the presidency has led to increased federal appointments and capital projects across key sectors.

State Government Approves ₦12 Billion for Infrastructure Projects

In a related development, the Ekiti State Government has approved over ₦12 billion in funding for infrastructure projects, including road rehabilitation, housing, and agricultural initiatives.

According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, the State Executive Council recently awarded the rehabilitation of the Ikogosi–Ipole–Efon Alaaye Road at a contract sum of ₦7.3 billion. The project is expected to enhance mobility, stimulate rural economies, and improve access to social services within the next 24 months.

Inclusive Governance Driving Development Momentum

Observers note that Ekiti’s collaborative governance model, marked by federal partnerships and private sector-friendly policies, strengthened the state’s positioning as a hub for infrastructure growth.

Ojo highlighted that Governor Oyebanji’s inclusive leadership style has widened political cooperation in the state and contributed to stability, which remains essential for sustained development.

“The governor is focused on governance beyond party lines. His leadership reflects an understanding of Ekiti’s collective aspirations,” Ojo said.
