Dangiwa Wins Transformational Africa Housing Minister of the Year Award for Second Consecutive Term

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has been named Transformational Africa Housing Minister of the Year for the second consecutive year, reinforcing his position as one of the continent’s leading public-sector reformers in the built environment.

The recognition, released through the Africa Housing Awards’ official publication platform, acknowledges the Minister’s sustained leadership in advancing affordable housing delivery, strengthening institutional reforms, and promoting sustainable urban development across Nigeria.

Dangiwa’s recognition reflects the outcomes of a rigorous evaluation process assessing the impact of policy direction, sector reforms, programme performance, and measurable progress across Africa’s housing landscape.

Since assuming office, the Minister has led major initiatives aimed at repositioning the housing sector for improved efficiency, transparency, and private-sector participation. These include:

  • National Housing Delivery Acceleration Framework, designed to streamline processes and address structural bottlenecks

  • Strengthened partnerships with sub-national governments and development institutions to expand affordable housing supply

  • Advancement of sustainable building principles, promoting lower-carbon development and resilient urban planning

  • Enhancement of mortgage accessibility through reforms within the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN)

These interventions have drawn praise from industry stakeholders for their emphasis on institutional strengthening and long-term sector stability.
