Land Dispute Deepens Over Coastal Highway Route in Lagos
Land dispute
A land dispute is gaining national attention in Okun Ajah, within Lagos’ Eti-Osa LGA, as Abuja-based law firm Ndarani SAN & Co. accuses the Federal Ministry of Works of unlawfully encroaching on a privately held property.
According to the firm, the land was legally allocated by the Lagos State Government and earmarked for development by a group of investors with over $250 million committed to the project. They allege that construction on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway has deviated nearly seven kilometres from its original route—crossing into private territory that, they claim, is not constitutionally subject to federal acquisition.
Tensions reportedly escalated on May 4, when unidentified individuals in military attire stormed the property. A construction worker, Olamide Obanla, was allegedly taken during the incident and has not been seen since.
Describing the act as a “forceful entry without due process or compensation,” the firm is calling for urgent intervention, warning that investor confidence and respect for property rights are at serious risk.
