Family Homes Funds to Commission 100 Housing Units for Widows in Kaduna and Ibadan
The Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL) will commission 100 housing units for widows in Kaduna on Monday, 3 November 2025, as part of its ongoing initiative to expand access to affordable and dignified housing for vulnerable Nigerians. A similar commissioning is scheduled to follow in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The widow-focused projects form part of the FHFL’s broader social inclusion agenda, which targets low-income households and aims to ensure equitable access to housing across different regions of the country.
According to the FHFL, the initiative underscores its mission to provide decent, affordable homes while advancing the Federal Government’s goal of inclusive housing development. By prioritizing widows, a group often marginalized in property ownership, the programme reinforces the Fund’s commitment to bridging Nigeria’s social and economic housing gaps.
The housing units, developed under the agency’s social housing scheme, are designed to improve living standards, enhance community stability, and support women-led households.
Empowering Communities Through Skills Development
In addition to housing delivery, FHFL is advancing local capacity development through its partnership with the Construction Skills Training and Empowerment Project (C-STEMP) and the African Development Bank (AfDB). The collaboration focuses on training artisans nationwide to strengthen Nigeria’s construction workforce and promote employment opportunities for young people.
The training programme is expected to improve the quality and speed of housing delivery while fostering self-reliance among artisans and contractors.
