Transport Workers Honour Tinubu with Dedicated Motor Park in Lagos

The Lagos Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has officially unveiled a new motor park in Oyingbo, Lagos, named in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The facility, christened the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Modern Garage, was inaugurated on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, in the presence of union leaders, traditional rulers and state officials.

State-of-the-Art Facility Aimed at Supporting Transport Workers

The modern motor park reflects a significant union-led investment in transport infrastructure, designed to provide organised space for commercial vehicles and support services for drivers. Union representatives described the facility as a major upgrade for workers in one of Nigeria’s busiest commercial hubs.

At the unveiling, notable attendees included NURTW Lagos Chairman Mustapha Sego, the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Highness Oba Rilwan Aremu, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor Tayo Ayinde, Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi, and the Governor’s Special Adviser Sola Giwa.

Political and Public Symbolism

The naming of the facility continues a pattern of infrastructure and public landmarks bearing the name of President Tinubu since his inauguration in May 2023. Observers note a growing list of public entities ranging from transportation nodes to educational and civic facilities that have been designated in his honour, reflecting both political goodwill and the prominence of the presidency in public life.

For Lagos commuters and transport workers, the modern garage is expected to strengthen orderly operations, improve working conditions, and enhance service delivery across one of Nigeria’s most dynamic urban economies.
